A systematic method to build decision-making confidence, with clear inputs and measurable outputs

Hey there,

I've got an interesting prompt for you today, one that should help you to transform hesitation into action - at work or at home.

What you'll learn:

• A comprehensive questionnaire that uncovers your decision-making DNA

• A SHAPE-based prompt framework that generates personalized confidence strategies

• Step-by-step instructions for implementing the system

• Real ways to measure your progress

Let's dive in.

Decision-Making Advice That Doesn’t Work

Most decision-making advice falls into two categories: overly simplistic ("just trust your gut!") or overwhelmingly complex (47-point decision matrices, anyone?). Neither addresses the root cause of decision paralysis - our unique patterns of self-doubt and the specific contexts where we struggle.

That's why I created the Decision Confidence Framework. It combines targeted self-reflection with AI-powered strategy generation to create a personalized path to confident decision-making.

The Framework: Part 1 - The Questionnaire

Before we can build confidence, we need to understand your decision-making landscape. Here's the complete questionnaire that maps your current state:

1. Decision-Making Context

- What types of decisions do you most often struggle with? (e.g., career, personal life, business, daily choices)

- What's the typical timeline for these decisions? (immediate, short-term, long-term)

- What's the usual impact level of these decisions? (low, medium, high stakes)

- How many people are typically affected by your decisions?

2. Current Decision-Making Patterns

- How long do you typically spend making important decisions?

- What's your usual process for making decisions?

- At what point in the decision-making process do you typically experience doubt?

- How do you currently validate your decisions? (gut feeling, data, advice from others, etc.)

3. Confidence Blockers

- What specifically triggers self-doubt during decision-making?

- What past experiences have influenced your confidence in decision-making?

- What's your biggest fear when making important decisions?

- How do others' opinions typically influence your decision-making?

4. Resources and Support

- What tools or frameworks have you previously tried?

- Who do you currently turn to for decision support?

- What resources are available to you for gathering information?

- How much time can you dedicate to improving your decision-making process?

5. Success Metrics

- How would you define "confident decision-making" for yourself?

- What observable changes would indicate improved confidence?

- What specific scenarios would you like to handle better?

- How quickly do you need to see improvement?

6. Implementation Context

- What's your preferred learning style? (reading, practicing, discussing, etc.)

- How do you best track progress? (journaling, metrics, feedback, etc.)

- What potential obstacles might prevent you from implementing new strategies?

- What time constraints should the framework account for?

Optional but Helpful Information

- Industry or professional context

- Team dynamics (if applicable)

- Current stress levels and work-life balance

- Previous experience with confidence-building techniques

- Specific upcoming decisions you're facing

Example Response

Context: "I make daily decisions about content strategy and client projects, typically impacting 5-10 team members."

Pattern: "I spend several hours analyzing options for even medium-impact decisions, often revisiting choices after they're made."

Blocker: "Previous project setbacks have made me overly cautious about trusting my initial judgment."

Resources: "I have access to project data, team feedback, and 2-3 hours per week for improvement."

Success Metric: "Making project scope decisions within one hour with 80% confidence."

Implementation: "I learn best through structured practice and prefer digital tracking."

The Framework: Part 2 - The SHAPE Prompt

Once you have your questionnaire responses, you'll use this SHAPE-based prompt framework to generate strategies tailored to your needs:
